Omegafriends Background:
Other than selling milk and having minions (though ghosts instead of pokemon), she differs a noticeable deal from what little there is of Hex Maniacs in Pokemon.
Melanie comes from the humble beginnings of a privately owned farm. The Mayfield Dairy, to be exact (no relation to Mayfield Dairy Farms). During her time working at the farm, she gained an odd appreciation for... milk. Or maybe it was more like an obsession.
This obsession made her something of an outcast at school. So, she made some ghost friends instead, because she somehow came across a copy of the Necronomicon. She would often use them to cause trouble to those who upset her (and, later on, people she just decided she didn't like (or even just for the lulz)), and found the arts of dark magic to become a second obsession in her life.
Due to her dairy's success (because Mayfield Dairy produces much better milk than standard grocery store milk!), her parents were able to afford to send her to Crookston Academy.
When she's not causing trouble or attending school, Melanie can often be found trying to sell Mayfield Milk... but she calls it Moomoo Milk instead for some reason.
Affiliation: Lord Titan. She was easily scouted out at Crookston due to her penchant for trolling people with ghosts.
Personality:
In her normal guise, as Melanie, she's something of an awkward teenager that is somewhat withdrawn. It's really that she is wary of most people. She's very unlikely to approach people she doesn't know for generally socializing and friend making. However, this is overridden when she's trying to enthusiastically sell milk.
As “Hex Maniac”, Melanie easily gives off the impression of being unhinged and insane. She's very likely to burst into crazy laughter, and at the very least she will have a very unnerving smile on her face during these situations. One normally sees this side of her when she is performing acts of villainy. Hints of this side of her can be seen in normal situations, however; most notably if she smiles for some reason. Though, in rare cases, she can sometimes manage a normal smile.
Melanie is absolutely obsessed with two things: Milk and necromancy (in that order). Should either subject ever come up, she's very energetic and is likely to talk at length about them (possibly while smiling creepily, too). However, she dislikes “cheap” industrialized milk with an extreme passion and prefers fresh dairy. She even goes as far as trying to personally sell her farm's milk to people.
On Rumblr, how she behaves depends on the account she uses. Under the 'behind_u' handle (or just plain anon), she's a terrible troll who takes delight in whatever sort of discomfort she can cause to others; generally in a dark and creepy fashion. However, when posting as 'moomoo_milk', she's as sweet as can be and generally posts about... well, milk. And milk-based products.
It's rather easy to upset Melanie, but how she reacts depends on the situation. If she is in her civilian garb, she's likely to avoid any confrontation... and then send ghosts to troll the person later. While doing villainous things as Hex Maniac, however, she'll just act more crazy and do everything she can in her power to beat the stuffing out of her enemy.
That said, it's not even necessary to be mean to Melanie to be targeted. She's just as likely to troll people she's never even met before, though those that have been mean to her before will certainly take precedence.
For those that actually manage to get on Melanie's good side, she can be rather stalker-ish and maybe even possessive of them. At the very least, she won't (intentionally) scare or troll them. And woe be to those that betray her trust...
Powers:
In Pokemon... Hex Maniac is more or less another trainer type one can duel. Though there are a few random NPC types that do other things like give out free items, sell milk, or one that invokes a horror trope.
In this AU, Melanie is first and foremost a necromancer. She's able to use dark magic for summoning ghosts and undead in general. She can also use dark magic as direct offensive attacks as well as defensively.
Depending on the situation, she's able to invoke certain “horror” tropes. Such as, for example, the lights flickering out when somebody's alone in a room, and then Melanie just suddenly 'being there' behind them when the lights come back on.
Having a copy of the Necronomicon, she can also summon some rather powerful entities should she put the time into a summoning ritual.
Lastly, she's able to put hexes (or curses) on people, with which she's able to inflict a variety of uncomfortable things such as being turned into a toad, having an uncontrollable twitch, or something as simple as a rash.
When it comes down to it, however, she is a human and anything that gets past her defensive capabilities will do full damage to her. Close combat is definitely one of her weak points.
